2016 Pago Pago Stakes Betting Odds

One of the key support acts on the Coolmore Classic Day card in Sydney on Saturday is the Pago Pago Stakes 2016, betting tips for the two-years-old colts and geldings showdown at Rosehill found below.

There are a dozen juveniles left in the mix for the second at Rosehill after Credible Witness (9) was scratched from this year’s $175,000 Group 2 Café Culture + Insitu Pago Pago Stakes (1200m).

Leading the updated Pago Pago Stakes odds through Ladbrokes.com.au paying $3.70 for the win and the Golden Slipper Stakes ballot exemption is Mount Panorama drawn a treat in barrier two for Team Hawkes.

Hong Kong-based Brett Prebble has the ride on the son of Sebring who comes off a third in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at the track and who is out to break his maiden status at his fourth career start.

So will the favourite get the job done or is there value further down the Pago Pago Stakes betting markets from the likes of the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Skyline Stakes runner-up Lionhearted ($4), the rails-drawn Souchez ($4.20) for Godolphin who ran third in the same lead-up or Peter & Paul Snowden’s improver Mediterranean ($6.50)?

#2 Mount Panorama ($3.70)

Mount Panorama is ticking plenty of boxes and looks set to peak at his fourth start shooting for a maiden win. The Sebring colt was good in the Silver Slipper at the track three weeks back from the inside alley beaten just over a length, and will get a good run from gate two on the weekend. He continues to improve each time out and if he does so again will be hard to hold out with Prebble over for the ride.

#7 Attention ($17)

Really good value on this Team Snowden-trained Stratum colt whose only run to date was at the track in late November during the spring. He was narrowly defeated and has trialled nicely since indicating he could be the shock top three runner here over the distance even from the wide alley.

#1 Souchez ($4.20)

Inside alley for the state’s best jockey James McDonald to guide this John O’Shea-trained colt from, the galloper a winner at the track on debut in December before the solid third in the Skyline Stakes a fortnight ago at Randwick.
