Solicit Strong Ahead of Coolmore Classic
Trainer Gerald Ryan has been thrilled with the form and results posted by Solicit this time and remains hopeful the mare can produce another classy effort and break-through for a maiden win at the highest level in Saturday’s Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Solicit has been a strong and consistent performer through a busy racing career which has included stints under the guidance of Greg Eurell and the training partnership of Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra; posting seven wins and ten minors through a total of 29 starts.
Confirmed to retire into a career as a broodmare following her current campaign, Ryan told AAP he is hopeful the mare can produce her best and win Saturday’s Coolmore Classic 2016.
“I don’t like to say that horses deserve Group One wins because many of them do,” Ryan said.
“But I would like to see her get one.”
The b-trained Azkadellia will spend the week at Ryan’s Rosehill stables, but will not work alongside his Coolmore Classic chance.
Ryan has underlined Azkadellia as a strong chance in the feature race for fillies and mares but is confident Solicit is up to the mark, should she be treated fairly in the weights.
“Solicit works on her own. I can’t work her with another horse because she’s too strong and can pull hard,” Ryan said.
“I’ve got a trackwork rider who handles her well.
“She has come through her last start in great order but it’s not going to be an easy race.
“Azkadellia will be a big danger. The Godolphin filly Ghisoni will also be hard to beat at the weights.
“I just hope the handicapper doesn’t give Solicit too much.
“I reckon 57 kilos would be about right with Lucia Valentina in the field.”
Resuming this time for second in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) on January 30th, Solicit progressed to second behind Winx in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1200m) before leading from start to finish to take out the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago.
The 2016 Coolmore Classic field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
