2016 Pago Pago Stakes Nominations

A less-than capacity list of fifteen colts and geldings have been included in nominations for Saturday’s 2016 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse; used often as a final point of call ahead of the Group 1 Golden Slipper.

Mount Panorama has laid a good account for himself through three career starts so far and has been included in 2016 Pago Pago Stakes nominations.

Trialling well amongst notable company prior to his debut, Mount Panorama placed sixth in a Randwick minor over 1100m on January 16th before progressing to a commendable third in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) a fortnight later.

Having continued to impress when third in the Group 2 Silver Slipper (1200m) most recently, the Sebring colt’s experience could go a long way towards success in the Pago Pago Stakes.

Godolphin are spoiled for choice with the number of talented two-year-olds they currently have in work including Souchez, who has been included in 2016 Pago Pago Stakes nominations.

Souchez made a commendable racing debut when savaging the line for success in a Rosehill minor over 1100m in December but was immediately returned to the paddock for a brief spell with a view towards autumn.

Charged with overcoming the outside barrier in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, the son of Lonhro ran well to finish a commendable third.

Having made four competitive appearances at the races to date, the John Sargent-trained Credible Witness is poised to line up as the 2016 Pago Pago Stakes’ most experienced contestant.

Failing to make much of an impact through his first three starts, the Star Witness gelding ran on for a credible fourth in a 1000m race last time out on February 25th.

Three runners included in 2016 Pago Pago Stakes nominations; Bray, Marrock and Potent Force are yet to appear at the races competitively.
