Two Word 2016 Australian Guineas Form Guide

Heading the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival line-up at Flemington Racecourse this afternoon, Saturday March 5, is the three-year-olds facing off in the Australian Guineas 2016 – the exclusive Two Word Form Guide for the mile classic found below.

While not originally set for the 2016 Australian Guineas the Darren Weir-trained Mahuta is a winning hope in the mile classic at Flemington. Photo: Ultimate Racing Photos.

There are 15 remaining runners in this year’s $750,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) field following the early scratching of the Michael Moroney-trained Tulsa (15) who runs in Sydney’s $1 million Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) instead.

Sitting top of the current Australian Guineas odds at paying a firming $2.90 for the win is the visiting New Zealand-trained dual Group 1 winner Xtravagant.

Kiwi hoop Matthew Cameron is over for the ride on the smart Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards-trained Pentire colt from Matamata whose last start on February 13 produced a blistering eight length elite level win over 1400m.

That’s the kind of Group 1 win that is hard to put down to luck alone, and the bookies are tipping the form to stack up when Xtravagant debuts down under in the Australian Guineas from a gun barrier three draw.

Four of his rivals are also under $10 in the latest Australian Guineas betting markets including three on $8 with Darren Weir’s ultra-consistent Mahuta (in from $9.50) shooting for seven on the trot, Mick Price’s Victoria Derby winner from the spring Tarzino (out from $7) and the Kingston Town Classic winning filly Perfect Reflection (in from $11) second-up in Melbourne.

So you don’t have to pour over the full Australian Guineas Form Guide (found below courtesy of here we have the popular two word analysis of every runner in the feature so you know who to back and who to sack in Flemington Race 7!
