2016 Aspiration Quality Nominations Feature Adorabeel

The Joe Pride-trained Adorabeel is nominated to defend her title in Saturday’s Aspiration Quality 2016 as part of the Randwick Guineas Day line-up in Sydney.

The now six-year-old daughter of Savabeel is one of 14 fillies and mares making up the early entries for this year’s $150,000 Group 3 City Ford Group Aspiration Quality (1600m).

She won the race last Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival but has failed to win again since.

Her lead-up runs both produced fifth place finishes at Randwick in February firstly in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) and then in last weekend’s Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) behind Solicit.

Adorabeel is allocated 56.5kg for the weekend going up from 55kg in the Guy Walter and the 54kg she carried to victory in the same race 12 months ago.

Leading the Aspiration Quality weights this season is the Peter Moody-trained Metaphorical with 59kg, the Dylan Thomas five-year-old after her first win since May last year at Moonee Valley.

Her last run in Sydney was in December of 2014 when third to Saigon Tea in the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m).

Moody also has Hard Spun five-year-old Blendwell in the mix who boasts a good record over the distance with two wins and two seconds from four previous runs over the mile.

Following Metaphorical in the weights with 58kg meanwhile is the in-form All Cerise for Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller.

The Redoute’s Choice five-year-old has won her four most recent runs on the trot including a win over the aforementioned Blendwell over the 1600m at Flemington on February 20 carrying 58kg.

All Cerise is undefeated over the distance with four previous mile victories and is one of three Waller-trained nominees in the Aspiration Quality this year.

She is joined in the entries by stablemates Lady Le Fay (57.5kg) who is a New Zealand export having her third run down under and Sweet Fire (55.5kg) who boasts two wins from two previous Randwick runs.

Nominated to make her Sydney debut in the race is the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Sacred Eye, the three-year-old daughter of High Chaparral the sole filly nominated to take on the older mares.

Winner of the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield defeating Caulfield Guineas runner-up Lizard Island, Sacred Eye ran seventh on a mud track at Flemington in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) before returning on February 20 with a fifth in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) beaten just two lengths.

Other notable entries include Tim Martin’s last start winner at the track Heavens Above, the John O’Shea-trained Algeria coming off a second to Testashadow over the mile here in mid-February, recent Rosehill winner Mary Lou and her stablemate Skyline Blush coming off a Millie Fox Stakes fifth.
