Turn Me Loose scores 2nd G1 win in 2016 Futurity Stakes

Kiwi Galloper Turn Me Loose recorded his second Group 1 win in taking out the Group 1 $500,000 italktravel Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield today.

The Murray Baker trained Turn Me Loose led all of the way to win the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington during the 2015 Melbourne Spring Carnival but Opie Bosson sat behind the leaders today before letting loose in the straight.

Turn Me Loose, the $3.10 favourite went to the line strongly to hold off the strong finish of runner up Stratum Star ($17) with Suavito ($7) also running home for third.

“He took a little bit to get there but once we got into our possie, he dropped the bit and travelled up beautifully,” Bosson said.

“He doesn’t lay down and run it out strong to the line.”

“He loves a dog fight.”

“I knew the other day after the run he was always going to improve so I was pretty confident coming into today.”

Part owner Scott Brown said that Turn Me Loose would now head to Sydney to run in the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 2 and then possibly in the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick a week later.

Brown also said that Baker and the team were keen to try and gain a start in the Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley in the Spring.
