It is a fine day in the greater Melbourne metropolitan area today and the Caulfield track has been rated a Good 3 after receiving only 1.6mm of rain through the last seven days.

2016 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day gets underway with the running of the Listed Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m) at 1:00pm local time and will conclude with the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at 6:00pm, which has drawn a classy field of mares.

Caulfield Track Report – 27/02/2015

  • Rail: True Entire Circuit
  • Weather: Fine
  • Irrigation: 28mm last 24 hours, 8mm last 7 days
  • Rainfall: Nil last 24 hours, 1.6mm last 7 days

All nine races at Caulfield on Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day will be contested at black type level including three Group 2 races, however it is the three Group 1 feature events that have undoubtedly drawn the most interest.

The Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) has drawn eleven talented middle-distance runners, and will jump race 6 at 3:05pm. Turn Me Loose has taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run for fourth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes over course and conditions but faces a tough task in the likes of Hucklebuck, Suavito and Politeness.

Extreme Choice has remained clear favourite in Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets and continues to firm in the hours leading up to jump, however Samara Dancer, Concealer and Flying Artie all have claims on the major two-year-old prize.

The Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) concludes Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day’s featured events and has drawn a particularly talented and exciting field of sprinters. Heatherly and Keen Array are clear race favourites however most of the field would not look out of place winning.
