A talented and capacity field will line up for Saturday’s featured 2016 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Extreme Choice has drifted in 2016 Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets but remains outright $3 favourite with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of stable mate Flying Artie ($5), Concealer ($6) and Samara Dancer ($6.50).
Will Extreme Choice justify favouritism and win the 2016 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?
The Mick Price-trained Extreme Choice has been close to faultless through his short but impressive racing career so far and will be very hard to beat in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes, even from barrier 13. Debuting for a comfortable two length win in the Inglis Nursery (1000m) on December 12th, the Not A Single Doubt colt receive the perfect tune-up for the Blue Diamond Stakes when taking out the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) by close to six lengths on February 6th. There should be no query on the distance for the two-year-old, who will be partnered by jockey Craig Newitt.
Trainer Tony McEvoy has been understandably pleased with the class displayed by Concealer through her short racing career so far, who looks likely for a first three finish in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes from the ideal barrier 5 and with only 54.5kgs in tow. Debuting for an impressive win in the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day, the Nicconi filly savaged the line for second in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude F (1100m) first-up this time and appears as though she will relish 1200m.
Punters have rallied around the Team Hawkes-trained Star Turn, who has cut in from 2016 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes odds of $17 to currently rest at a quote of $9 for success. Running third in the Kirkham Plate (1000m) on debut in October, the Star Witness colt posted a maiden race win in the Pierro Plate (1100m) at Randwick on October 24th before returning to the paddock. Dwayne Dunn steered Star Turn to a close second in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G (1100m) first-up this time and has retained the ride on the colt for Saturday’s feature.
