2016 CF Orr Stakes Day Scratchings & Track Report

Caulfield Racecourse is home to the year’s opening Group 1 race meeting today, Saturday February 13, for CF Orr Stakes Day 2016 – the full scratchings and track report for the bumper nine-race card found below.

It is mostly sunny in Melbourne today with a top of 32 degrees and no rain due until late tonight meaning any horses hoping for a bit of give in the Good (3) track will be disappointed.

Caulfield Track Report – 13/02/2016

  • Rail: True Entire Circuit
  • Weather: Mostly Fine
  • Irrigation: 10mm last 24hrs, 40mm last 7 days
  • Rainfall: Nil
  • Penetrometer: 5.13
  • Track Rating: Good (3)

Despite the big card, which features an impressive eight individual Group races, there are just six scratchings for CF Orr Stakes Day.

The action kicks off with the only non-black type event at 1:30pm (AEDT) and continues through until Race 9 at 5:30pm (AEDT) when the mares face off in the $150,000 Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m).

Of course the highlight on the program is the elite level $500,000 Group 1 Ladbrokes C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) running as Race 7, the weight-for-age feature still with all 18 of its original acceptors in a star-studded edition.

Two gallopers are battling for top spot in the markets, a coveted position as favourites have won the past six editions of the CF Orr.

Firming favourite is the returning Emirates Stakes winner Turn Me Loose ($4.80 into $4.20), but plenty of money is also coming for the Darren Weir-trained Lucky Hussler ($4.80 into $4.40) who comes off a Magic Millions Day win on the Gold Coast last month.

The two Prelude races leading up to the $1.5 million Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 27 also run today as Race 3 (Fillies) and Race 4 (Colts & Geldings).

Check out the full Caulfield program and official scratchings below then head to Ladbrokes.com.au to enjoy a punt to celebrate the start of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival for another season.
