2016 Triscay Stakes Betting Tips & Odds

A quality field of mares faces off in Saturday’s Triscay Stakes 2016 at Royal Randwick, betting tips on the Apollo Stakes Day sprint detailed below.

Set to run as Randwick Race 8 on the nine event program, this season’s $150,000 Group 3 Robrick Lodge Triscay Stakes (1200m) is down to 11 runners following the early scratching of Onemorezeta (9).

Current Triscay Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are led by Private Secretary ($3.30) who should get a lovely run third-up from barrier four with Brenton Avdulla aboard the Gregory Hickman-trained Husson six-year-old.

A dual winner from four starts at the track, Private Secretary was last seen running second behind I Am Zelady in the Gold Coast’s Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m) on January 9, and she’s had a little freshen-up since.

The return to Sydney should suit and she has solid form over the 1200m (6-2-1-0).

There are three other single figure fancies in Triscay Stakes betting this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival including Group 2 winning Redoute’s Choice four-year-old Peeping ($4.20) and the market mover Slightly Sweet ($4.80) who gets the rails run from barrier one.

So will one of the best in betting get the job done or is there value tipping a Triscay Stakes upset from the likes of the returning Snippetson mare Vergara ($7) or the James Cummings-trained Sultry Feeling ($10) who is yet to run top three from six runs at the track?

#1 Peeping ($4.20)

Under the handicap conditions Peeping carries the 59kg top weight and she is also drawn wide (11 into 10), but Ron Quinton’s four-year-old has class and with luck from the gate she can overcome these factors for a win at a decent price. She has a solid Randwick record (5-1-2-0) and is out to improve on her eighth here in the Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m) at the end of her last prep. Before that she enjoyed a Group 2 win at Rosehill over 1400m, and she also trialled well at Randwick when second to Harlem River late last month. She is undefeated first-up (3-3-0-0) and flies fresh, which is the deciding factor for us.

#2 Slightly Sweet ($4.80)

Jason Coyle saddles-up this Charge Forward four-year-old who is drawn a treat in barrier one and who looks well weighted carrying 55kg. She is also first-up and out to improve on her Group 1 Myer Classic 10th in Melbourne during the Cup Carnival. She has been competitive in plenty, and at her last Randwick run won the Group 3 James Carr Stakes (1400m). Inside alley is an advantage and when she resumed last time she was just off the top three when fourth to Catkins in Rosehill’s Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m).

#4 Private Secretary ($3.30)

The favourite has to be included in all exotics and should get a beautiful run from the barrier. She was brave at the Gold Coast last month and runs well first and second-up fresh, so the little break between runs suits. She has winning form at the track and distance and will be going close.
