The nicely-bred More Than Ready colt has had two previous runs heading into this weekend’s $125,000 Listed Huawei Lonhro Plate (1000m), which runs as Randwick Race 1 at 12:40pm (AEDT).

Eight youngsters face off in the set weights plus penalties clash, Prized Icon drawn nicely in barrier three with Hugh Bowman retaining the ride.

The horse debuted at Randwick last October running third to current 2016 Golden Slipper Stakes favourite Capitalist in the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m) before returning with a third to Scarlet Rain in the wet over the same track and distance on January 23.

Also third last time out on debut, the John O’Shea-trained Street Cry colt Telperion was defeated under two lengths by Yankee Rose over 1100m at Rosehill on October 31.

Winner of that race Yankee Rose is a top early fancy in futures betting for the upcoming $1 million Group 1 ATC Inglis’ Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) during The Championships after backing up to win the Golden Gift last November.

Telperion is out to further frank the same form line this Saturday and jumps from barrier six with to Sydney jockey James McDonald booked for the ride.

There are four non-maidens in this autumn’s Lonhro Plate field including the Gai Waterhouse-trained Snitzel filly Vienna Waltz coming off a Canterbury win over 1200m run on a Heavy (9) track last month.

Another smart filly with a win on the record already is the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained daughter of ill-fated sire Northern Meteor Quick Feet.

She won at Warwick Farm over 1000m defeating Serena’s Pride last November and also won a Rosehill trial at the start of February leading up to her second career start.

The other previous winners are the Peter Robl-trained Sugarparma who is another Snitzel filly and the well-tried Alliterate.

Sugarparma won her debut at the Gold Coast on December 12 before her solid fourth to Zelady’s Night Out in the Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Plate (1200m) at the same track on Boxing Day ahead of her maiden Sydney run this weekend.

Alliterate is prepared at Muswellbrook by Pat Farrell and is a daughter of Al Maher who has a record of one win and two seconds from four runs so far, the latest a second over 1100m at Scone on January 21.

Rounding out the Lonhro Plate field this year are the unraced Team Hawkes-trained Northern Meteor colt Palladian and Gary Frazer’s Hinchinbrook filly Spright looking to improve on her debut sixth to Honesty Prevails in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m) last month.
