Thirteen three-year-olds remain in contention for Tuesday’s 2016 Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for colts and geldings at Caulfield Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Godolphin colt Cohesion remains outright $4 favourite in a largely open Blue Diamond Preview C&G betting market with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Weatherly ($4.20) and Power Trip ($4.60).
Will Cohesion justify favouritism and win the 2016 Blue Diamond Preview C&G or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Power Trip is a proven performer at the class and over the distance and has reportedly taken plenty of benefit from his time away from racing in the lead up to the 2016 Blue Diamond Preview C&G. Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, the Hard Spun gelding jumped from the gates well in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) on November 7th; displaying good ability in transit before musting a strong turn of foot to post an impressive win. Power Trip should receive a dream run from barrier 3 and will be hard to beat at Caulfield on Saturday.
One of a large contingency of Godolphin-owned two-year-olds currently in work, Cohesion has also appeared on course only once competitively but has stamped his claims as one to watch. Beating a talented field to the line in a strong Randwick barrier trial during the Spring Carnival, the son of Lonhro debuted for a credible fourth behind the likes of Golden Slipper favourite Capitalist in the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m) on October 3rd before immediately returning to the paddock. Having strolled home to win a Sandown trial over 800m by close to four lengths a fortnight ago, all signs point towards a competitive performance in the Blue Diamond Preview C&G.
One of the more experience runners confirmed in the Blue Diamond Preview C&G field, Dalradian failed to fire when seventh in the Maribyrnong Plate last time out but has also taken condition from his time in the paddock. Debuting for a two length success in a Bendigo minor over 900m on October 17th, the Reward For Effort colt repeated the dose for a $139,000 win in the Inglis Banner (1000m) on October 24th in what was his only other start prior to the Maribyrnong Plate. Drawn well in barrier 3, Dalradian has been confirmed to be partnered by Brad Rawiller.
