The eight-year-old son of Mossman entered a very exclusive thoroughbred racehorse club with his $1 million Magic Millions QTIS Open Plate (1300m) win last Saturday, his prize money earned now exceeding $6.4 million.

From 51 starts Buffering has won 19 times including six Group 1 triumphs, the latest of which was in Perth’s Winterbottom Stakes last November.

Having won his Gold Coast debut on Magic Millions Day as the odds-on $1.30 favourite with regular rider Damian Browne in the saddle once again, Buffering is now set to take on the world despite being a rising nine-year-old.

Heathcote and connections have the grand old campaigner targeting the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) down the straight at Meydan Racecourse in late March as part of the famous Dubai World Cup Night.

Buffering has now undergone his vaccinations ahead of his international campaign and is recovering at Washpool Lodge at Aratula in Queensland.

“He is out at Washpool Lodge so it is a chance for him to recover from the vaccinations and be ready to travel,” Heathcote told AAP this week.

Early Al Quoz Sprint betting at bookies around Australia is led by in-form five-year-old Ertijaal who has won his past two starts at the track and December’s Hong Kong Sprint winner Peniaphobia.

Buffering is also a top fancy at single figures for the win in open futures markets on the short distance feature.

After his Dubai bid Buffering is set to continue his overseas raid with a Hong Kong run in the Group 1 Chairman’s Prize (1200m) at Sha Tin Racecourse.

He is then tipped to return to Oz for another Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival campaign targeting Victoria’s premier sprint races including his shot at a third consecutive Moir Stakes victory and his fourth in total having also saluted in the 2012 edition when it ran as a Group 2 event.
