A full field faces off in the Gold Coast Race 4 at 1:25pm for this summer’s $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap (1300m) including current $4.60 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au, home of Best Tote or SP + 20% across the Gold Coast card on Saturday, Private Secretary.

Sydney’s James McDonald rides the Gregory Hickman-trained Husson six-year-old from barrier nine second-up as she looks to retain her undefeated second-up record (3-3-0-0).

Last time out at Randwick on December 12 Private Secretary ran sixth beaten only 1.6 lengths by Cradle Me in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) and she gets in on the 54kg minimum again on Saturday.

Three of her rivals are also under $10 in the current Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap odds including I Am Zelady ($6.50) who jumps one on her outside on the back of some nice lead-up form at Rosehill.

Joe Pride’s four-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible won over 1200m defeating Slots from a wide gate (13 of 14) two back before a third over 1350m on December 19, a win she’ll be out to repeat here in tougher class.

The last of the single figure hopes are the rails-drawn Tina Melina ($8) for Brisbane’s Tony Gollan who is after her third win on the trot and Peter Moody’s Sino Eagle ($9) who Glen Boss rides from a gun gate four draw.

So will the best in betting get the job done or is there an upset Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Handicap result on the agenda this weekend from the likes of last start Canterbury Classic winner Cradle Me ($11) or the Gerald Ryan-trained Festival Stakes placegetter Peace Force ($10)?

#10 Tina Melina ($8)

Gollan’s in-form Jet Spur four-year-old is still at good odds to win her third on the trot even after coming up trumps with barrier one for her third run at the Gold Coast. She won at the track over 1200m on Boxing Day by three quarters of a length and steps up to 1300m for the first time here. Proven at the Gold Coast, set to get the run of the race and on minimum weight she’ll be flying again and on the speed proving hard to get past.

#1 Cradle Me ($11)

The David Pfieffer-trained Sydney visitor also comes off back-to-back wins, hers in black-type company at home including the Canterbury Classic. She had just 55kg on her back in that Boxing Day success at Randwick however and goes right up to 60kg that could prove her undoing. If she handles the kilos though she’s the class mare in the mix with a good gate (3) and still a livewire chance to win again.

#5 Eloping ($12)

Money coming for early market mover Eloping who has to overcome barrier 17 but has a good hoop in Blake Shinn on board for the job. Prepared by former Melbourne Cup winning jockey turned trainer Peter Robl, the four-year-old daughter of Choisir was runner-up to Tina Melina here on Boxing Day and just needs luck from the gate to finish in the money again.
