The More Than Ready five-year-old is one of 14 starters plus five emergencies accepted for the $1 million Crown Resorts Magic Millions Trophy (1800m), formerly the Magic Millions Stayers Cup, which runs as Race 5 at 2:00pm on Saturday.

Blake Shinn rides the in-form gelding from a gun gate two draw on the equal 59.5kg top weight, Centre Pivot going up two kilos from the weight he carried to victory in Doomben’s Listed Bernborough Handicap (1615m) last time out.

He has his first look at the Gold Coast on Saturday and is allocated the same kilos as Rex Lipp’s defending Magic Millions Trophy winning mare Tinto.

Last Queensland Summer Racing Carnival the Red Dazzler mare carried 59kg to victory from the outside barrier (14) in the then-Stayers Cup on the back of a win in the Bernborough Handicap that ran at Toowoomba last season.

She won her first race since last time out when returning to the Gold Coast in an 1800m clash with 60kg on December 26 and should be flying this weekend over the same track and distance.

Winner of the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) in 2014, the now five-year-old is a Gold Coast specialist having won four from five at the course and runs from barrier one with Damian Browne aboard this weekend.

Also drawn near the inside for the Magic Millions Trophy is the John Zielke-trained Choisir four-year-old Worthy Cause with gate four.

The stallion from the Sunshine Coast has been in stellar form over the spring – summer season including a black-type win at Flemington last October over subsequent Emirates Stakes champion Turn Me Loose.

He also ran third two back in mid-November in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m) at Sandown-Hillside before returning to Queensland for his last start third in the Bernborough Handicap carrying 58kg, half a kilo more than his weight on the weekend.

Along with the equal top weights other notable last start winners in the line-up include the Team Hawkes-trained Longeron and Barry Baldwin’s Glendara drawn in barriers six and 13 respectively.

Tommy Berry rides six-year-old Longeron, the son of Lonhro coming off a 2000m win at Flemington last month two runs after his third in the Listed Kilmore Cup (1600m).

Glendara is in flying form, the Show A Heart gelding having run top three in his past 11 runs going back to early March last year.

All have been in much easier company however including his Doomben win over 1615m on December 19 when carrying 59kg from barrier 14 of 15 to victory.

Helping him against a tougher field of rivals for the Magic Millions Trophy is a big drop back to the 54kg and he could start from single digits if the emergencies fail to get a run.

Other notable Magic Millions Trophy hopes on Saturday including the Robert Heathcote-trained Brisbane Handicap runner-up Hopfgarten in barrier 14 with Craig Williams to ride and the Chris Waller-trained seven-year-old Black Jag.
