2015 Vo Rogue Plate Nominations Feature Egyptian Symbol

After a brave second at Wyong in similar company last Thursday the Bjorn Baker-trained Sydney filly Egyptian Symbol has her latest Magic Millions 3YO Guineas lead-up in the Vo Rogue Plate 2015 at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The three-year-old daughter of Stratum has won three of her four career starts to date and is after her maiden black-type win on the weekend in the $150,000 Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) heading towards the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) back at the track on January 9.

Her first loss came last Thursday in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes where she put in the run of her life to make up late ground and cross an eye-catching second to Flippant.

Flippant is now the $6 second favourite in futures Magic Millions 3YO Guineas betting at Ladbrokes.com.au behind Mahuta ($4.20), followed closely by Egyptian Symbol ($7) who sees the Gold Coast track early this weekend.

The next best fancied 2016 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas-bound galloper nominated for the Vo Rogue Plate lead-up on Saturday’s Gold Coast race card for Boxing Day is the David Murphy-trained Shotacross The Bow.

Paying $17 to win the lucrative restricted classic next month, the Rothesay gelding from Brisbane has had seven runs for a trio of wins the latest being at the Sunshine Coast over 1200m on December 6.

He is one of a host of last start winners in the mix along with the likes of the Desleigh Forster-trained Cylinder Beach who is dropping in distance after a runaway seven length Doomben win over the mile last month, Dram Of Red from NSW who is three from five to date and the flying Star Of Night.

Prepared on the Gold Coast by David Kelly, Wicked Style filly Star Of Night comes off back-to-back wins at the track, is Group 3 placed and Group 2 performed.

On the same race card last summer she was third in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) and her latest victory was over 1400m at home on November 28.

Along with Dram Of Red, who is a $21 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas chance, Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn also has his Falvelon filly Madotti nominated for the Vo Rogue.

She is also paying $21 to win the MM Guineas next month and was last seen finishing under a length away third to Secret Saga in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) in Brisbane on November 28.

A black-type winner last time out and looking for another win going up to Group 3 company here is the Kevin Kemp-trained Collate filly from Toowoomba Sold For Song.

She has had three starts for two wins including the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) from the inside alley at Doomben on December 12.

Other notable hopes include the locally-trained Always Scared who won over 1200m at the track on December 12, the returning Gai Waterhouse-trained Giulietta, Group 1 performed Sebring filly Typing and last year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Le Chef for the Sunshine Coast’s Darryl Hansen.
