2015 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes Field

A quality field of both three and four-year-old Magic Millions graduates will face off in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes 2015 this Thursday including Flamboyant Lass.

Open to both three and four-year-old hopefuls for the first time this season, the $100,000 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes (1200m) features a final field of 11.

Due to run as Wyong Race 4 at 3:15pm (AEST), many of the gallopers are also in the mix for a trip to the Gold Coast on January 9 for a shot at the lucrative $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).

The shortest priced of the Wyong runners this Thursday in the all-in Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds for next month paying $8 as the early third favourite through Ladbrokes.com.au is Flamboyant Lass.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Stratum filly has won two of her seven starts to date and was last seen crossing only 1.2 lengths away fifth behind Speak Fondly in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) over the Randwick mile in early October.

She is down in distance and races her best fresh with both her wins coming first-up.

Flamboyant Lass also looked fit and ready to return winning a Randwick trial over 730m in late November and has come up trumps with the inside run from barrier one on Thursday with Tim Clark booked for the ride in the set weights clash.

The next two best fancied Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Classic chances running in the Wyong lead-up this week are Egyptian Symbol and Flippant paying $13 for January’s feature.

The Bjorn Baker-trained Egyptian Symbol is an unbeaten daughter of Stratum who has won all three of her career runs to date.

The filly’s latest victory was at Kembla Grange of 1200m on December 6 where she overcome the outside barrier 14 of 14 draw.

On Thursday Brenton Avdulla takes over for Glyn Schofield in the saddle with Egyptian Symbol getting a better gate with a barrier four draw.

Flippant has come up with nine for the Wyong race, Kerrin McEvoy booked to ride the returning Peter & Paul Snowden-trained daughter of Hinchinbrook.

Flippant won back-to-back Listed races at Scone and Doomben respectively back in May but hasn’t raced since her disappointing ninth when failing to beat home any of her rivals in the Counterattack-won Listed BR Crowley Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 17.

She has trialled twice since in Sydney with McEvoy on her back including an impressive four and a half-length winning hitout over 794m at Warwick Farm on December 4.

Team Snowden, who also saddle-up Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Capitalist in the Wyong MM juvenile’s feature on Thursday, have a double shot at the 3YO & 4YO Stakes also represented by Stravigo in barrier five.

Blake Shinn rides the three-year-olds Stratum gelding who comes off a winning 1100m sprint at Canterbury from late November.

Another last start winner in the line-up is the widely drawn Murt The Flirt, the four-year-old jumping from barrier 11 of 11 this week with Chris Symons in the saddle.

Last time on the Murtajill gelding saluted over 1100m at Ballarat on November 21 with Thursday’s run his third over 1400m.
