Due to jump as Villiers Stakes Day Race 8 at 5:05pm (AEST), this season’s $100,000 Listed Green Options Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) features a full field of sprinters led in betting by the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Dublin Lass.

Drawn ideally in barrier four, into three if the sole emergency Private Secretary (1) doesn’t run, the five-year-old daughter of O’Reilly pays $2.90 in the latest Razor Sharp Handicap odds at Ladbrokes.com.au –home of Best Tote or SP + 20% on Saturday’s Villiers Stakes.

It is a similar price to what she paid for her last start Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) win at Rosehill a fortnight ago, which followed a nice first-up second at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival in Group 3 company.

She has a strong 1200m record of three wins and four seconds from nine previous starts at the distance and should be even fitter this weekend third-up making her a tough favourite to beat.

Just three of her rivals are also under double figures in the Razor Sharp Handicap betting markets including the $6 second favourite Echo Gal drawn wide in barrier 14 for jockey Thomas Huet to overcome.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Stratum mare is first-up on the weekend having last run at Rosehill on September 12 for a second behind Catkins in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m).

A previous winner over the 1200m at Randwick, the four-year-old has won two of her previous five first-up assignments and looked in blistering form smashing a Randwick 1044m trial on November 30 by over nine lengths ahead of her return.

Stablemate to the favourite and sixth past the post in the Starlight Stakes, the fellow Snowden-trained That’s A Good Idea then occupies the third line of betting at $6.50.

The Flying Spur six-year-old carried 60kg last time out and it got the better of him when beaten 4.6 lengths by Dublin Lass who he is out to turn the tables on this weekend.

No arguing his Starlight Stakes effort was disappointing but if he is back to his best with the blinkers on this Saturday he can bounce back and return to form.

Rounding out the single figure hopes at $8.50 is then the emergency runner drawn on the rails and awaiting a scratching to make the line-up Private Secretary.

Gregory Hickman’s Husson mare is first-up on Saturday and boasts a three-from-three first-up record to date, so the bookies are taking no chances with the dual Randwick winner.

At more generous odds and after the Razor Sharp Handicap upset are the likes of the John O’Shea-trained Barbed ($11) who also flies fresh, John Sargent’s five-year-old sprinter Aussies Love Sport ($11) and Boss Lane ($12) for local horseman Ron Quinton.
