Due to jump as Ascot Race 2 at 1:09pm (WA time), this Saturday’s $150,000 Group 3 Sir Ernest Lee Steere Classic (1400m) features a final field of nine led in betting by Let It Slip.

Daniel Pearce’s in-form Not A Single Doubt filly from Lark Hill pays $3.20 for the win through Ladbrokes.com.au, home of Best Tote or SP + 20% on the Kingston Town Classic this Saturday, and comes off a win in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m).

The Placid Ark Stakes – Lee Steere Classic double was completed last year by Liberty’s Gem and now Let It Slip will look to repeat the feat and add to her good Ascot track record that stands at two wins and a third from three starts to date.

She is followed in Lee Steere Classic betting this weekend by the unraced Lite’n In My Veins who jumps from barrier two on debut with Hong Kong hoop and last year’s Kingston Town Classic winning jockey Douglas Whyte aboard.

Fred Kersley prepares the Henrythenavigator gelding who has had three lead-up November trials including a 1.5 length win over 950m last time out.

Also at single figures for the win are the likes of Brian Kersley’s Placid Ark Stakes runner-up Yoshi Noxious ($5), stablemate to the favourite Pushin’ Shapes ($7.50) coming off three fourth place runs at the track and the rails-drawn Total Eclipse ($7.50) prepared by Grant Williams.

#6 Let It Slip ($3.20)

The in-form favourite looks hard to beat again here as she steps up to 1400m for the first time on Saturday. Her lead-up has been ideal including the one length Placid Ark win where she powered home from the back of the pack to finish off very strongly, indicating the extra meters won’t bother her here. She’s after the double Liberty’s Gem achieved last year and even from a wider gate eight draw she looks a gun chance to get it. Her Ascot record is excellent (3-2-0-1) and Peter Hall retains the ride.

#3 Yoshi Noxious ($5)

Tipping the same quinella as the Placid Ark with local Fath gelding Yoshi Noxious there to run second to Let It Slip again. After a 1200m win at Ascot on November 3 he was brave in defeat in his first black-type assignment on November 21. Brad Parnham is a good replacement for Lucy Warwick and like the filly that beat him home, Yoshi Noxious was strong late in the Placid Ark where he got caught too far back ruining his winning chances.

#9 Total Eclipse ($7.50)

The rails run and Perth’s No. 1 hoop William Pike both belong to this Testa Rossa filly having her fifth career run and shooting for her first Ascot win. She broke her maiden status in mid-October at Northam before a fifth in the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) and a fourth last time out in a non-black type on November 25. The lead-up is a bit strange but she has shown plenty of potential and she’ll get a better run here and be in with a big hope at her second look at the distance.
