Traveston Girl is one four horses Gollan has accepted for in the Brisbane Handicap that has brought together a capacity field of fourteen.

Gollan is happy with the way Traveston Girl has trained on after leading all of the way to win the  Listed $100,000 Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes (1600m) at Doomben last Saturday week.

“At the moment she is about as good as we can get her. I would expect her to roll forward and be hard to beat,” Gollan told AAP.

“She stays down on the minimum weight after they scaled the race so there should be no excuses.”

Tegan Harrsion steered Traveston Girl to victory last start and has the ride again this week.

Gollan’s other three acceptors are Trakstar, Best Of The Rest and ex Darren Weir trained mare First Bloom.

Best Of The Rest has drawn reasonably at barrier seven while First Bloom and Trakstar will jump from the two outside gates.

Gollan is keen to see how his new stable acquisition First Bloom performs at her first run for the stable after the mare won her last start over 2040m in a BenchMark 78 Fillies and Mares Handicap at the Moonee Valley night meeting on November 13.

“As you would expect she arrived here in fine fettle. She has had two weeks at Washpool Lodge and has been in the stables for a week,” Gollan said.

“Her best form is around the 2000 metre mark but she worked well and is ready to race.

“There is also the option of an 1800 metre race for her on Boxing Day at the Gold Coast.”

Robert Heathcote has had mixed results at the barrier draw with topweight Hopfgarten drawing poorly at twelve while Bewhatyouwannabe had better luck coming up with gate four.

Craig Williams, who is in Brisbane taking part in the State Of Origin Jockey Series, takes over from Glyn Schofield on Hopfgarten while Jeff Lloyd retains the ride on Bewhatyouwannabe.
