2015 Starlight Stakes Field Features Howmuchdoyouloveme

One of the headline hopefuls in Saturday’s Starlight Stakes 2015 at Rosehill Gardens is the Con Karakatsanis-trained Howmuchdoyouloveme who shoots for back-to-back wins at the Sydney track.

The Written Tycoon seven-year-old has a good record over the 1100m that he sees again in the $100,000 Listed The HQ of Insurance Starlight Stakes that is due to run as Race 5 at 3:05pm (AEST) on Festival Stakes Day.

Jumping from a nice barrier four of eight draw with apprentice Samantha Clenton booked for the ride on 56kg, the veteran sprinter was last seen adding to his record (8-3-2-0) over 1100m at Rosehill with a one land a half length win in the wet from November 14.

He is on the two week back-up then stepping up in class and looking to return to his stakes winning form that saw him win races including the 2013 Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes in Brisbane.

The Starlight Stakes field and weights are topped this season by the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained That’s A Good Idea with a hefty 60kg to cart around from the outside barrier eight draw.

The Flying Spur six-year-old has run top three in his four most recent starts including his third to Group 1 winner Terravista in the Group 2 Premier Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 3 and his second in a Listed 1100m race at the same track behind Dothraki a fortnight later.

He has trialled twice since for two seconds and looks in good form in a race that he deserves to carry the top weight in.

After That’s A Good Idea and Howmuchdoyouloveme the rest of the field all carry the 54kg minimum this weekend including the other Team Snowden-trained runner Dublin Lass who has also come up trumps with barrier one.

The super-consistent O’Reilly mare has her 17th career run this weekend, the five-year-old shooting for her seventh win and her second from as many starts at the track.

From her two previous runs over the distance she has twice run second, most recently behind Pittsburgh Flyer on a Heavy (9) Flemington track in Melbourne during the Cup Carnival on Crown Oaks Day in the Group 3 G.H. Mumm Stakes.

She was beaten under half a length in that November 5 run in her first run since failing to beat home any other runner crossing 15th behind Ciaron Maher’s star mare Srikandi in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at the Gold Coast back in June.

Dublin Lass then is second-up in the Starlight Stakes and has solid second-up from to date of a win and two seconds from three previous attempts.

She also drops 1.5kg from her GH Mumm Stakes weight and is after her first win since taking out the Listed Bright Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Doomben back in late May.

Along with Howmuchdoyouloveme the other last start winner in the mix is the Marc Conners-trained Fiftyshadesofgrey who saluted at the track and distance just last Saturday.

The Written Tycoon mare had 58kg on her back last Saturday for her Benchmark 78 win from gate five of 12 and drops four kilos in weight with a nice barrier three draw this weekend on the quick back-up.

Also drawn well in barrier two is Jason Coyle’s four-year-old Ad Valorem mare Freeze The Charges who comes off a third in the same race seven days earlier won by Fiftyshadesofgrey.

Another third placegetter last time out was Albury-trained The Monstar for Brett Cavanough, the California Dane five-year-old last seen crossing third to Sea Lord in the Listed MSS Security Stakes (1200m) on Melbourne Cup Day.
