Offering bonuses to QTIS-eligible runners, this year’s $100,000 Mode Plate (1200m) has a field limit of 16 starters plus five emergencies.

Last year’s Mode Plate winner was the Tony Gollan-trained Hijack Hussy who come off a black-type win at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and this year Gollan is back with a trio of entries led by Secret Saga.

The well-performed daughter of Real Saga has won four of her eight starts to date and is Group 2 performed from this year’s Winter Carnival.

Her latest run was at Doomben on November 14 when veteran Queensland jockey Jim Byrne guided her to a tidy one and a half-length victory in a Three-Years-Old Handicap over 1050m.

Third at Doomben last time out back in late August, Bradbury’s Luck filly My Girl Hayley has had just two runs including her winning debut at the Sunshine Coast while Suite Mover also lines up for the third time next start on the back of an 1100m Ipswich win from November 11.

Runner-up in the same Ipswich race earlier this month was the Noel Doyle-trained Gold Coast-based Snitzel filly Nilette who backed-up at home last weekend to win a maiden’s race in narrow fashion.

She is now nominated for a short seven day turnaround into the Mode Plate where she will shoot for her second win at start number sixth for her first black-type run since a ninth to Harlem River in Listed company at the Gold Coast back in June.

Along with Gollan’s duo and Nilette the other last start winners nominated for the Mode Plate are Ballina-trained Foxy Walk, Kim Noir who won her debut at Toowoomba last Saturday, the David Kelly-trained Wicked Style filly Star Of Night who has Group 2 form at the track from back in May and Toowoomba-based Wanted filly The Wanted Club.

If accepted into the Mode Plate field The Wanted Club drops in distance this weekend after putting a big three and three-quarter length margin on her closest rival for her November 7 win at home earlier this month over 1300m.

Also coming off nice lead-up form are Stuart Kendrick’s Show A Heart filly Banda Spice, La Dolce Vita who was runner-up to Secret Saga last time out, Madotti and a nicely-bred daughter of Star Witness St Remy.

Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan also has three Mode Plate entries this season with his daughters of Hinchinbrook Edge Away and Thorsborne along with Redoute’s Choice filly Who Are They.

Also from Sydney is Riapinka for Newcastle’s Kris Lees who ran at Flemington on Crown Oaks Day running fifth to Secret Agenda in the Group 3 Red Roses (1100m) on November 5.

Other notable hopes include Sebring filly Typing last seen running 10th to Press Statement in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) from June 6 and the Gillian Heinrich-trained Charge Forward filly Military Miss who is still a maiden after five runs.
