Rounding out a nine race, all-black type program at Sandown Hillside on Saturday is the mares’ only $150,000 Group 3 Le Pine Funerals Summoned Stakes (1500m) set to run as Race 9 at 5:55pm (AEST).

Of the capacity field of 16 starters, plus four emergencies, the favourite in the Summoned Stakes odds at is Scarlet Billows ($5.50) drawn in barrier 10.

She is prepared by Melbourne Cup winning trainer Darren Weir and has history’s first Melbourne Cup winning female hoop Michelle Payne in the saddle as the Street Boss five-year-old looks for another Group 3 win.

Last start on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington on November 3 she scored a tidy two and a half-length victory in the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) and with the right run from the gate on Saturday she’s a livewire hope of more success this Saturday.

Four other mares are under $10 for the Summoned Stakes win this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival including the $7 second elect She’s Clean drawn one closer to the rails than the favourite with barrier nine and Glen Boss aboard.

The Chris Waller-trained Redoute’s Choice seven-year-old comes off a third to Scarlet Billows and at her 40th start this weekend is out to turn the tables on her last start conqueror.

She’s Clean goes up a half-kilo on the 56.5kg she carried on Cup Day under the set weights plus penalties conditions of the Summoned Stakes.

Also at single figures are the Gerald Ryan-trained Hawkesbury Crown winner from the winter Solicit ($8.50), the widely-drawn Ballet Suite ($8.50) also representing Waller and Into The Mist ($8.50) for Adelaide horseman Tony McEvoy.

Five-year-old Street Cry mare Solicit was runner-up first-up in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup Day before her eighth behind Politeness in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Derby Day she’s out to improve on when dropping back in class this weekend.

Ballet Suite has a nasty gate 18, into 17 with emergencies out, draw to overcome but has winning form up to 2000m and was far from disgraced when beaten only one and three-quarter lengths by Coronation Shallan in the Group 3 Teiso Stakes (1600m) on Cox Plate Day at Moonee Valley on October 24.

Into The Mist has a more favourable barrier five draw on the weekend with Dwayne Dunn retaining the ride on the four-year-old daughter of Redoute’s Choice who is out to atone for a ninth in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes.

The best of the double figure chances include the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained Medaglia D’Oro four-year-old Matilija ($10) who comes off a fourth to Pittsburgh Flyer in the Group 3 G.H. Mumm Stakes (1100m) in the mud on Crown Oaks Day, Brett Scott’s Teiso Stakes winner Coronation Shallan ($12) who was seventh to Turn Me Loose in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) last weekend and the John Sadler-trained Japhils ($14).
