Formerly known as the Tesio Stakes and the Eliza Park International Stakes, this Saturday’s edition of the mares-only mile showdown is run as the $150,000 Group 3 G1X.Com.Au Stakes (1600m) and runs as one of 10 Moonee Valley races on the program.

Shooting for her first win since the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) in Adelaide back in April last year, the now five-year-old New Approach mare May’s Dream is a dual runner-up from three previous runs over 1600m and comes off nice lead-up form this season.

Two back she crossed third to Amicus in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington before her last start second beaten three quarters of a length by Fenway at Moonee Valley in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) from the start of the month.

Weir has also nominated for his Elusive City seven-year-old Atlantis Dream who has run second twice from three previous Moonee Valley runs and has a good record over 1600m (5-1-3-0).

Her latest turf triumph was back in May in Adelaide when beat home Let’s Make Adeal, heading towards a hopeful 2015 Melbourne Cup start this November, in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville, but needs to improve on her last start 12th to La Passe in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) from October 4 at Flemington.

Other highly-rated mares in the mix for Saturday’s showdown include last start Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m) winner over this distance in Sydney Casino Dancer, the Peter Moody-trained South African import Do You Remember who is yet to race down under and the Anthony Cummings-trained black-type winning daughter of Snippetson Vergara.

Also coming off nice lead-up form are the likes of Ciaron Maher’s last start Cranbourne winner Azkadella, Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) third placegetter behind Vashka last Saturday Coronation Shallan, Blazer Stakes runner-up Manageress, Chris Waller’s Angst Stakes runner-up Wine Tales and third in the same lead-up race run at Randwick Zarzali for James Cummings.
