Magic Hurricane lived up to the punter’s expectation when he scored a two lengths win in the Group 1 $750,000 McGrath Estate Agents Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on October 3 and is also  a top fancy in the Group 1 $3m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) also on Saturday.

O’Shea’s other David Jones Cup entrants Complacent and Hauraki are also in Caulfield Cup contention while English import Bow Creek is lining for his first run in Australia.

Complacent and Hauraki were both in the money last start when they ran the quinella in the Group 3 $125,000 Craven Plate (2000m) at Randwick last Saturday week.

Five year old Malice is O’Shea’s other runner and is coming off a seventh to the Chris Waller trained Winx in the Group 1 $1m The Star 150th Epsom (1600m) at Randwick on October 3.

Waller has only nominated one for the David Jones Cup, Sadler’s Lake, who is coming off a ninth to stablemate Winx in the Epsom.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig have two listed in the nominations, Irish import Dibayani, also a possible Caulfield Cup runner, and English import Velox who ran a fair race last start when third to Escado in the Group 3 $200,000 JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 2.

Melbourne’s premier trainer Darren Weir has entered Our Voodoo Prince, Toolybuc Kid and last Saturday’s Group 1 Toorak Handicap third placegetter Stratum Star.

The Lee and Shannon Hope trained Fenway was back in the winner’s list last start with tough victory in the Group 2 $200,000 StrathAyr Track Stock Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on October 2 and has been nominated for the David Jones Cup.
