Trainer Chris Waller’s Group 1 winner Amicus and the popular grey Catkins are two of the nineteen mares entered for Saturday’s Group 2 race.

2014 Thousand Guineas winner Amicus kicked off her Spring Carnival in great fashion with wins in the Group 3 $125,000 Toy Show Quality (1300m) at Randwick on August 22 and in the Group 2 $200,000 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on September 12.

But the Fastnet Rock mare found the going tough when sixteenth of eighteen behind Stratum Star in the Group 1 $400,000 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 28.

Crowd favourite Catkins also was an early Spring Carnival winner with a first up victory in the Group 3 $125,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on September 12 but then failed as an odds favourite when fifth to Peeping in the Group 2 $400,000 Ronald McDonald House Westmead Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill on September 26.

Last start winner La Passe is one of three mares from the Darren Weir stables in the nominations with Atlantis Dream and Scarlet Billows.

Weir stepped La Passe up to Group 2 company and the Street Sense mare scored an upset win at $41 in the $200,000 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 4 with Atlantic Dream back in twelfth spot.

While Scarlett Billows ran the best race of her career when fourth to Chautauqua in the Group 2 $200,000 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 4.

The Danny O’Brien trained Miss Rose De Lago and Lucky Lago from the Lee and Anthony Freedman stables are also acceptors for the Group 3 $150,000 Nine West Ladies Day Vase (1600m) and look likely to head to Caulfield on Wednesday.

But the Freedmans could have a runner with Hazard who was beaten less than two lengths last start when sixth to La Passe in Blazer Stakes.

Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan has nominated his Group 2 winning mare Solicit for the Tristarc Stakes as well as the Group 3 $150,000 Moonga Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Solicit found winning form in the Autumn with a win in the Group 3 $150,000 The 2015 Darley Crown (1300m) at Rosehill on May 9 before running second to stablemate Peace Force in the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 23.

Ryan gave the Street Cry mare one more run during the Queensland Winter Carnival and sent her for a spell after finishing eleventh to Srikandi in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1400m) at the Gold Coast on June 20.
