Originally a final field of 11 were engaged in this year’s $200,000 Group 2 Jeep Stutt Stakes (1600m), running as Moonee Valley Race 5 at 8:45pm (AEST), but the early scratching of Polish Tiger leaves 10 in the mix.

It is a super tight Stutt Stakes betting market at with three battling for favouritism including narrow top fancy Sovereign Nation ($4.40) for David Hayes & Tom Dabernig.

The Encosta De Lago colt won on debut back in late August before a seventh in the Listed Exford Plate (1400m) at Flemington last time out that he’s tipped to improve on when out over a mile at just his third career run tonight.

The other two shortest priced chances are Ragnaar ($4.60) and early market mover He’s Our Rokkii ($4.80), both Kiwi-bred sons of Roc De Cambes who kicked off their careers in New Zealand coming off winning debuts down under.

So will the top three in the Stutt Stakes odds also be the first three over the line on way to a possible short turnaround into the $1 million Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) Saturday week or is there value further down the markets form the likes of Dane Shadow colt Patch Adams ($7) or the in-form Get The Picture ($8) coming off a mile win at Ballarat?

#3 He’s Our Rokkii ($4.80)

He’s firmed right in from $5.50 but there is still value backing this Lindsay Park-raced Kiwi expat who has Group 1 form back in New Zealand over 1400m. Won with ease at Benalla over 1206m in his first run in Australia last start and will be better over the mile. Set weights conditions suit and even from the wide gate he looks a genuine chance to take this next step.

#11 Collaborate ($7)

Barrier one has the Murray Baker-trained New Zealand raider primed for a great run in his first look at an Aussie field. The High Chaparral colt comes off a win back home over 1400m from the start of September in the wet and any rain will aid his chances here. Did it from a wide gate with Opie Bosson aboard that day and the hoop is here retaining the ride further boosting the chances.

#5 Get The Picture ($8)

Get The Picture lines up for just his fourth career run in this, the Excellent Art colt having saluted by one and a half lengths over this distance at Ballarat carrying 58kg. He’s one of the few then proven at the distance and that’s a big plus as is the drop back in weight for his first black-type assignment.
