There are only eight left to face off in this year’s $300,000 Group 2 G1X.Com.Au Premiere Stakes (1200m), running as Randwick Race 5 at 2:45pm (AEST), following the early scratching of Bring Me The Maid.

Leading the latest Premiere Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, who are offering Cash Back up to $100 if your Epsom Handicap selection runs 2nd or 3rd in Saturday’s major, is the market mover Terravista ($2.10).

Winner of the Darley Classic in Melbourne last spring, Joe Pride’s class six-year-old returns to racing in this on the back of two Warwick Farm trials looking to add to an impressive first-up record of four wins and a third from five previous resuming runs.

He looks mighty hard to beat fresh in this company at Randwick where he’s won four from six and the bookies agree with the next best in betting being the rails-drawn The Shorts winner Rebel Dane ($4.40) and Generalife ($5) who is another flyer fresh.

So can the top three in the markets run the Premiere Stakes trifecta this Sydney Spring Racing Carnival or should you look further down the odds for value in a horse like seven-year-old BTC Cup winner Hot Snitzel ($10)?

#1 Terravista ($2.10)

The odds are short and firming on Pride’s $1.48 million earner but happy to take them before he goes odds-on. A winner of nine of his 16 starts in total, the six-year-old won the Darley Classic last November and was a dual Group 1 third placegetter in the autumn including over this distance in Melbourne in the Newmarket Handicap. He loves Randwick (6-4-0-1), loves the distance (7-4-0-2) and has won three of his four starts over the track and distance – very imposing stats for a first-up flyer with Group 1 winning form in a Group 2 r4esuming run facing only seven rivals.

#5 Hot Snitzel ($10)

Value in the Team Snowden-trained seven-year-old who had a stellar winter prep that included a Group 1 win in the BTC Cup over 1200m at Doomben. First-up was beaten only a length when fourth in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick, a run he can improve on here back at the track over a further 1000m – a distance he has a good record over (18-6-3-2). He is two from three over the 1200m at Randwick and the price is very appealing.

#3 Rebel Dane ($4.40)

Gary Portelli’s California Dane six-year-old won first-up in The Shorts beating some class rivals including Ball Of Muscle who runs in Friday night’s Group 1 Moir Stakes in Melbourne. Second-up has a decent record (6-1-1-1) and returns to the same track of his resuming win going up half a kilo but getting the rails run on Saturday.
