Running as Moonee Valley Race 6 at 9:15pm (AEST), this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Gallagher Bassett / TBV Champagne Stakes (1200m) originally drew a dozen three-year-old fillies.

She is third-up this prep on the weekend following a win at Geelong in late August and a last start sixth in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) down the Flemington straight from a fortnight ago where she was also drawn wide (12 of 12).

Hayes & Dabernig have also accepted for Not A Single Doubt filly Hell Or Highwater drawn a treat in gate three for jockey Damian Lane and coming off a big two and three quarter length victory at Cranbourne from September 13.

There are four other last start winners in the Champagne Stakes field for Friday evening including the Lloyd Kennewell-trained Viddora who has won her past two runs back home in Adelaide and the Mick Price-trained Secret Agenda who won at Sandown-Lakeside at the start of the month.

The other last start winners are the Jason Warren-trained daughter of Dane Shadow Nina Rules who is yet to run worse than second in her three career starts and the Shea Eden-trained Ocean Embers who won by three lengths at Bendigo on debut.

Other in-form hopes in the mix include the Murray Johnson-trained Reward For Effort filly Take Pride who ran fifth two back to Petits Filous in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) before a third to the same filly in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) at Flemington two weeks back and the John O’Shea-trained daughter of Lonhro Painted Firetail up in class this weekend facing her first black-type assignment.

O’Shea and the Godolphin stable are also represented by Black Opal third placegetter from March Antelucan who runs first-up here from barrier six with James McDonald riding in Melbourne over the weekend.
