Fell Swoop scored his fifth straight win and trainer Matthew Dale will decide next week if his new sprinting machine will continue his Spring Carnival campaign or will be put a way the Autumn.

Dale has already earmarked the Group 1 $400,000 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield as a likely target for Fell Swoop during the 2016 Melbourne Autumn Carnival.

“With a bit of improvement and with a reasonable weight, he will be hard to beat in a race like that,” Dale said.

“I will just sleep on it now and see how he comes through this mentally.”

“He didn’t have as nice a run as I would have planned. We will just get home and assess. Everything is on the cards, but we will just assess when we get home.”

“There is a long way to go yet but I will make that call over the next week.”

Damien Oliver had Fell Swoop perched just behind the leaders down the side but elected to slide up three wide coming to the home turn.

Fell Swoop ($2.70 favourite) was one of the joint leaders on the turn and had his head in front all the way down the straight holding off the late challenges of second placed Charlie Boy ($10) and Java ($4.60).
