Former Western Australian star Disposition was able to show his class in winning the Listed $120,000 The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington today.
Disposition ($2.25) was having his first run for trainers Lee and Anthony Freedman and lived up to their expectations with a comfortable win over run on horse Akavoroun ($14) and on pace runner Pressing ($20).
Lee Freedman said that the Reset four year old had shown plenty of potential since joining the stable and he will now step him up to Group 1 level in the $400,000 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26 followed by the $400,000 David Jones NBCF Toorak Handicap (1600m) at the same track two weeks later.
Freedman also added that Disposition would step out a much fitter horse at his next race start.
“To my eye he looked like the last 100m he was getting a bit tired too, first up for a few months,” Freedman said.
“Really high class horse and he can only improve on that and going forward I think something like the Rupert Clark in two weeks and then maybe the Toorak after that would be a really good race for him.”
“He did what I hoped I would see. He has shown me things that only good horses can show you. He will gain in fitness from that which will be important going forward.”
Winning jockey Damien Oliver gave Disposition a dream run just off the pace and after easing him out into the clear on the home turn cruised up to the leaders to win as he liked with a clear length margin over Akavoroun with a further three quarters of a length to Pressing.
