Due to jump at 4:20pm (AEST) as Race 7 on the program, this year’s $50,000 Slipway Hotel Ballina Cup (1600m) has attracted a full field of 14 milers.

To carrying the 58kg top weight with Ms Codie McPherson in the saddle is 10-year-old Youthful King drawn well in barrier five.

He shoots for his first win since early July where he saluted over 1350m at his home track, his longest distanced win to date, with Friday being his 83rd start and first look at the mile.

Sylvester has also accepted for Collar who Tegan Harrison rides from one barrier closer to the rails, the O’Reilly seven-year-old jumping from gate four and out to improve on a seventh in the Taree Cup (2000m) behind Ghost Protocol on August 23.

Also drawn well in the Ballina Cup barriers are Kingston Time on the rails, Myonerose jumping from two and Sharon Pepper’s Snippetson six-year-old Bingo Bobby in gate three with Luke Rolls to ride.

The Paul Grills-trained 81 start veteran Kingston Time was last seen running third to He’s Dreamin’ over 2300m at Coffs Harbour and Thursday is his fourth start at Ballina where he’s twice run third.

He is allocated 54kg this week but will carry just 51kg thanks to the apprentice claim of Ms Jodi Worley, the horse’s young regular rider staying in the saddle.

Myonerose is prepared at Coffs by Brett Bellamy, the Danzero mare having run third at her home course over 1414m last time out on September 1 and is undefeated at Ballina having won her only other start at the track last November over the 1600m.

Also coming off good lead-up form are the two last start winners in the mix Sigmund and Purrvosa drawn at the opposite end of the field in gates 13 and 12 respectively.

Stephen Lee’s Casino Prince gelding Sigmund won the Casino Cup (1400m) on August 15 and shoots for back-to-back country cup wins and his first win over the mile at attempt number five.

Purrvosa is a stablemate to Myonerose and has won two of his past three starts, the latest being the Lismore Cup Preview (1516m) on August 24 carrying 54kg, the same minimum weight he gets into Thursday’s field on with Jasen Watkins in the saddle.

Other notable hopes include Gold Coast visitor Cheval Du Feu and the Chris Munce-trained Specific Choice looking to improve on a ninth at Doomben last time out on August 29.
