Small Kingston Town Stakes 2015 Field Released

Just eight stayers make up the 2015 Kingston Town Stakes field for this Saturday in Sydney, three of the hopefuls for the Rosehill Gardens feature coming off a last start win.

This year’s $125,000 Group 3 Sky Thoroughbreds Central Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) runs as Race 2 on Golden Rose Stakes Day jumping at 1:15pm (AEST).

Despite boasting a field capacity of 18, there are only eight in the mix this year including the Anthony Cummings-trained Skyline Blush who shoots for her fourth win on the trot.

The in-form daughter of Northern Meteor was last seen saluting over the mile at Wyong and is up to 2000m for the first time since her win in the wet over the distance at Randwick in July.

Tim Clark retains the ride this Saturday and the pair jump from a favourable gate three draw getting in on the 54.5kg minimum.

Also coming off a win are the David Vandyke-trained last start Canterbury winner Maurus drawn a treat in gate two for Jason Collett and Gai Waterhouse’s import King Kinshasa in six for just his second run down under after taking out an 1800m race at Hawkesbury first-up on August 29.

The top-rated Kingston Town Stakes acceptor this year is the Chris Waller-trained Silverball jumping from barrier four with Brenton Avdulla aboard.

The Kahyasi seven-year-old carries the 58kg top weight this weekend having had the same kilos aboard for his last start second behind Magic Hurricane in the Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m) late last month.

Silverball has a solid record at Rosehill with a win and two seconds from four starts and is after his first win since the Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup (2000m) at the track in early May.

Also coming off a nice lead-up run are Brian Smith’s Brisbane raider Kingdoms and the Robbie Laing-trained Time Thief stallion Temps Voleur.

Rounding out the Kingston Town Stakes line-up this spring are then Robert Hickmott’s rails-drawn Foundry in gate one for James McDonald and Havana Cooler.

The John O’Shea-trained Hurricane Run six-year-old was a top fancy in betting last Friday in the Listed Wyong Cup (2080m) but failed to impress running a distant last (13th), form he’ll need to improve on to be competitive in Group 3 company this weekend.
