2015 Pin & Win Stakes Field Features Caulfield Guineas Hopes

A number of outside 2015 Caulfield Guineas hopefuls are set to face off in the Pin & Win Stakes, formerly known as the Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes, at Flemington Racecourse this weekend.

Due to jump as Flemington Race 3 at 1:30pm (AEST) on Makybe Diva Stakes Day on Saturday, this year’s $120,000 Listed Pin & Win Stakes (1400m) has attracted a bumper field of 16 starters plus four emergencies.

A host of the accepted three-year-olds also hold an entry for the $1 million Group 1 BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) over the mile on October 10 including Sovereign Nation who is at $15 through Ladbrokes.com.au in futures Caulfield Guineas odds.

Drawn in barrier nine with Michael Walker to ride in the Pin & Win Stakes, the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Sovereign Nation has had just the one run to date but caught the eye winning at Geelong on August 28.

The Encosta De Lago colt is tipped to improve as he steps up in class and distance starting this weekend where he shoots for another win on way to the Guineas.

The next two shortest prided Caulfield Guineas nominees in the Pin & Win Stakes field on the weekend are Snoopy ($34) and Prince Of Brooklyn ($34).

Prepared by Team Hawkes, who have also accepted for Sun Flash on Saturday who has the second widest alley to overcome, Lope De Vega colt Snoopy has won all three of his career starts so far.

His latest was over 1400m in the wet at Ballarat on August 27 where he and jockey Dwayne Dunn, who retains the ride from a gun gate two draw this weekend, narrowly saluted as the odds-on favourites in the Benchmark 70.

Prince Of Brooklyn is drawn one on the inside of Snoopy for Saturday’s showdown, the Mick Price-trained Magnus colt drawing the rails as he looks to improve on a sixth to Golden Rose hope Gold Symphony in the Group 3 H.D.F. McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 29.

Other Caulfield Guineas hopefuls and their current pre-field odds for the Group 1 engaged in this weekend’s lead-up include Michael Moroney’s son of Sebring Tulsa ($51), the Ciaron Maher-trained Bon Aurum ($51), Dane Shadow colt Patch Adams ($51), More Than Most ($51), Tony McEvoy’s Manhattan Blues ($51) and Odyssey Moon ($51).

Adelaide raider Manhattan Blues was fourth to Pride Of Dubai in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield as a two-year-old and is out to atone for a first-up seventh when beaten just over four lengths by Well Sprung in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on August 22.

Odyssey Moon looks a big chance in the Pin & Win from barrier three with Damien Oliver booked for the ride aboard Rodney Northam’s Snitzel colt who was runner-up in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) in early April.

He resumed in the McKenzie Stakes and was third past the post in a promising effort he is tipped to improve on second-up this weekend.
