Peter Moody’s Group 1 Champagne Stakes winning filly Pasadena Girl is the headline nomination for the Atlantic Jewel Stakes 2015 at Moonee Valley this weekend as part of Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes Day.
The three-year-old daughter of Savabeel has won three of her four starts to date, including the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) over the Randwick mile in April on the back of a fourth to Pride Of Dubai in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).
Current $7 early favourite in the all-in odds at Ladbrokes.com.au for the $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10, Pasadena Girl is one of 26 total nominations taken for the $120,000 Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.
Moody has also entered Just One Moment, the More Than Ready filly coming off a second to Strykum at the track over 1200m a fortnight ago.
The next shortest-priced in the Thousand Guineas betting markets nominated for the Atlantic Jewel Stakes this season is the undefeated Ciaron Maher-trained Petits Filous paying $17 to win next month’s Group 1 on Caulfield Guineas Day.
Having won all three of her runs so far the Street Boss filly’s latest run saw her successfully step up to black-type company when taking out the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 15.
Petits Filous is also nominated for a weekend run in Sydney’s Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick.
Group 1 winning Caulfield horseman Maher has also dually nominated his daughter of Myboycharlie Jameka for the same two Saturday features, the filly last seen winning the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in mid-March.
There is a host of other last start winning fillies among the Atlantic Jewel Stakes nominations for the weekend including the Mick Price-trained Badawiya, Lindsay Park’s Miss Idyllic, stablemate Stay With Me and the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained Strykum who boasts stakes winning form in Adelaide from earlier in the year.
Other notable fillies in the mix include Adelaide’s Group 3 Sires Produce Stakes winner The Grey Flash, the Gai Waterhouse-trained daughter of Snitzel Sweet Redemption and Sagaronne.
Toby Edmonds’ Gold Coast-trained Real Saga filly has won two of her four starts in Queensland including the Listed The Phoenix (1350m) in late May and was last seen running a brave second to the Chris Waller-trained Press Statement in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) at Doomben on June 6.
