Rich Enuff Heads The Heath 1100 Stakes 2015 Field

Registered this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival as Stakes, the $150,000 Group 3 The Heath 1100 Stakes (1100m) is due to jump as Caulfield Race 5 at 2:45pm (AEST) on the weekend.

Just eight sprinters are engaged to face off in the set weights plus penalties showdown, the rails-drawn Rich Enuff to wear the number one saddlecloth with Dwayne Dunn booked for the ride.

A winner of three of his six starts to date, the Written Tycoon stallion debuts as a four-year-old with his last start being a seventh in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington last November.

He was in better form over more distance prior to that however including his three straight wins and a Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) second to Shooting To Win over the mile.

Also drawn well and resuming are the Peter Moody-trained Thermal Current (barrier two) and Robert Smerdon’s The Bowler (barrier three) to be ridden by Ben Melham and Mark Zahra respectively.

Exceed And Excel gelding Thermal Current won the Group 3 DC McKay Stakes (1100m) in Adelaide on May 2 before a credible fifth when under two lengths off the winner next time out a fortnight later in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m).

While yet to win first-up, the five-year-old has four minor placings from five previous first-up runs and from the gate on Saturday at a distance he boasts a good record over (6-2-2-0) he is a livewire chance for the place again.

The Bowler won four of his latest five runs during his autumn – winter prep, the Testa Rossa five-year-old’s last start being on The Goodwood Day at Morphettville on May 16 when narrowly winning the Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m) over the mile.

Other notable first-up The Heath 1100 hopes include Smerdon’s other runner Under The Louvre and Bounding for Peter & Paul Snowden.

Glen Boss has the ride on Excellent Art stallion Under The Louvre who has won eight of his 20 starts to date, running top three in another eight of those runs.

He was last seen running third to Flamberge in The Goodwood when finishing one and a quarter lengths off the winner, and looks to add to a nice Caulfield race record (5-2-3-0) on Saturday.

Bounding is an ultra-consistent Lonhro mare taking on the boys here, the five-year-old finishing out of the money just once in her 14 starts so far.

While the last of the Kiwi expat’s seven wins was back in New Zealand last March, her form since arriving down under has been solid including a last start second to vain Queen in the Group 3 GH Mumm Stakes (1100m) at Flemington last November.

Other notable The Heath 1100 Stakes hopes include the Paul Beshara-trained Richie’s Vibe in the outside alley coming off a Group 3 Spring Stakes third in Adelaide from the start of the month and last start Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes winning mare Miss Promiscuity representing Lindsay Park’s David Hayes & Tom Dabernig.
