A six-year-old son of Whipper, Beyond Thankful joined Waller’s now five-time Sydney Trainer’s Premiership winning stables in the autumn of last year from France and is finally finding form down under.

Two back he won over 1900m in the mud at Canterbury before making it two straight with a narrow victory over Orbec in the $85,000 Premier’s Cup Prelude (1800m) on August 15.

Now he is nominated for the $100,000 Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m) this Saturday on The Run To The Rose Day, entries for the quality handicap extended until 11am (AEST) on Tuesday.

There are currently 13 horses nominated for the Premier’s Cup this weekend, Beyond Thankful the second highest rated behind stablemate Opinion who hasn’t raced since failing to finish in the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) at the track in late March.

Waller’s third Premier’s Cup nominee is another French import, Silverball, the Kahyasi seven-year-old having won the Listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) in May before a first-up sixth when not quite race fit in the Spring Preview (1400m) a fortnight ago in his third Rosehill run.

A host of hopefuls come off better lead-up runs including the Garry Frazer-trained mare Campania and Magic Hurricane for John O’Shea.

Frazer’s Hawkesbury-based daughter of Dubai Destination won over 1900m at Rosehill two back before a last start third at her home track behind former Sydney Cup champ The Offer in the Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) last Thursday.

Magic Hurricane will be fourth-up if accepted this weekend and was last seen running a brave third to Centre Pivot in the Spring Preview.

O’Shea and the Godolphin stable have also nominated for Havana Cooler.

Other notable Premier’s Cup entries for Saturday’s meeting include the David Payne-trained High Chaparral gelding Foreign Prince who comes off a Premier’s Cup Prelude fourth when beaten under half a length, John Thompson’s Group 2 winning Zabeel seven-year-old Tremec and Kapour.

Last seen winning the Listed Winter Cup (2400m) on June 27, Kapour represents Caulfield’s Ciaron Maher and comes off a winning Cranbourne trial over 1550m from August 21.

Gai Waterhouse meanwhile has nominated for Flying Spur six-year-old Spurtonic, whose latest turf triumph was in the Magic Millions Cup over 1400m at the Gold Coast back in January.

Last Sydney Spring Racing Carnival Waterhouse ran the Premier’s Cup quinella with the Tommy Berry-ridden Greatwood beating home Bonfire by nearly two lengths while Waller’s $3.60 favourite He’s Your Man ran third.
