2015 Show County Quality Betting Tips

A strong line-up of spring sprinters are set to face off in the Show County Quality 2015 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, betting tips for the Warwick Stakes Day support act found below.

Boss Lane

There are nine left in the field for this year’s $125,000 Group 3 Sky Thoroughbred Central Show County Quality (1200m) following the early scratching of the top weight Complacent who runs in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) over more distance instead.

Of the remaining hopefuls the favourite in the latest Show County Quality betting markets at a current quote of $3.10 is the market mover Vashka who Tommy Berry rides from the inside alley.

The John O’Shea-trained Exceed And Excel five-year-old returns from a an injury-enforced spell and has won back-to-back trials in Sydney ahead of his return where he’ll look to build on his 50% win rate (12-6-3-0).

Also well liked for the win are the likes of Gai Waterhouse’s in-form Royal Academy gelding Countryman ($4) on the short back-up after a second at Rosehill in last Saturday’s Spring Preview and the Ron Quinton-trained Boss Lane ($4.80) who shoots for a hat-trick of wins on the trot this campaign.

So will the first three in the Show County Quality odds run the trifecta or is there value to be found further down the markets from the likes of Heart Testa ($7.50) who needs a touch of luck from the wide gate or even veteran seven-year-old Howmuchdoyouloveme ($15) who ran second last weekend?

#6 Boss Lane ($4.80)

Quinton’s five-year-old Dubawi gelding is in flying form with back-to-back wins this time in firstly over Kristy Lee at Canterbury and then defeating Starturbo over 1000m at Randwick on August 8. He is back up in distance here and that should suit as he’s got a five-from-13 record over the 1200m. He also boasts a quartet of previous Randwick wins and is a three time winner over the track and distance, which are some imposing stats going into this. Is obviously up in class, but 54.5kg is a nice weight after he carried 59kg to victory last time out and will get a gun run from barrier three with Tim Clark aboard.

#5 Howmuchdoyouloveme ($15)

This Con Karakatsanis-trained son of Written Tycoon was brave last weekend when only just run down by the odds-on favourite Peeping over 1200m at Rosehill. He is on the short turnaround, but can handle the seven days between runs as she shoots for his first win at Randwick start number seven. The distance suits and while it has been a long time between drinks, he is a class galloper with the right run on the right day with 55kg and barrier six both working in his favour.

#9 Vashka ($3.10)

The deserving favourite will get every chance from barrier one on the 54kg minimum with Berry behind the reigns, and before the Hall Mark failure (10th), back in April this now five-year-old posted five straight wins during a spring – summer campaign. The distance suits (4-2-1-0) and while he is yet to finish in the money at the track, this is just his third look around Randwick and the two lead-up trial wins will have him race fit and ready to pounce.
