Two Blue Heads 2015 Toy Show Quality Field

Kristen Buchanan’s in-form mare Two Blue heads a small but quality field of fellow female gallopers set to line up in the Toy Show Quality 2015 at Randwick Racecourse this weekend in Sydney.

Running as Randwick Race 2 at 1:15pm (AEST) on the Warwick Stakes Day program, this year’s $125,000 Toy Show Quality (1300m) features a nine-horse field led by Dubleo seven-year-old Two Blue.

Drawn the rails in gate one the veteran Wyong-based mare comes off a string of top two runs including a win at Rosehill in late June and back-to-back seconds in stakes’ company at the same track in July.

The first saw her cross a neck off Haussmann in the Listed Civic Stakes (1350m) before Rugged Cross beat her by a mere nose in the Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) on July 18, both black-types run on Heavy-rated tracks.

It is set to be a firmer Sydney course this weekend and Two Blue comes into the showdown on the back of a second at Wyong behind Havana in a 1000m hit out from August 12.

Also coming off nice lead-up runs are the likes of Gai Waterhouse’s Echo Gal and the Chris Waller-trained Kristy Lee.

Echo Gal is drawn nicely in barrier four for jockey Tim Clark on the weekend, the four-year-old Stratum mare last seen winning over 1200m at the track from August 8 with Clark in the saddle.

She beat home the likes of Holy Delusions (2nd) and Win Tales (3rd) that day by a minimum two and a quarter lengths, but goes up 2.5kg here under the handicap conditions of the Toy Show Quality.

Kristy Lee meanwhile jumps from gate two on Saturday having run second or third in her past five straight starts.

The most recent of those runs from the Encosta De Lago six-year-old was only last Saturday at Rosehill when she crossed just over a length off the odds-on favourite Peeping in a BenchMark 90 on San Domenico Stakes Day.

Waller has a total of three lining up in the Toy Show this year with Kristy Lee joined in the field by Amicus and Wine Tales drawn in barriers seven and nine respectively.

Fastnet Rock four-year-old Amicus returns to racing here having last been seen running 13th in a below par Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes effort over the Randwick mile in April.

Wine Tales is second-up on Saturday, the fellow four-year-old having run second to Echo Gal in her return at the start of the month.

Also coming off a nice lead-up run into the Toy Show is the Kris Lees-trained Fine Bubbles drawn in barrier four with Brenton Avdulla to ride.

The six-year-old daughter of Casino Prince has run fifth in her two most recent starts including over 1300m at Rosehill at the start of the month behind Countryman.
