No Complacent in 2015 Show County Quality Field

The last black-type on the Warwick Stakes Day line-up in Sydney this weekend is the Show County Quality 2015 where Complacent is an early scratching in favour of a run in the day’s headline race.

Super consistent John O’Shea-trained Authrozied stallion Complacent hasn’t raced since November of 2013 when he ran second to Polanski in that year’s Victoria Derby nearly two years ago, and returns to racing on Saturday at Royal Randwick.

The now five-year-old was a dual acceptor on the card with connections putting him in the mix for both the $125,000 Group 3 Sky Thoroughbred Central Show County Quality (1200m) and the weight-for-age $250,000 Group 2 Pro-Ride Warwick Stakes (1400m).

He has since been scratched from the Show County Quality field in favour of a run in the Group 2 where he is a $41 outside in Warwick Stakes betting at to beat the likes of the John Thompson-trained First Seal ($3.20) and Chris Waller’s Doncaster Mile winner Kermadec ($6).

With Complacent out there are nine remaining sprinters to face off in the Show County including the Con Karakatsanis-trained Howmuchdoyouloveme in gate six with veteran hoop Jim Cassidy to ride the evergreen galloper.

The Written Tycoon seven-year-old is yet to win at Randwick from six previous runs at the track but put in a top run at Rosehill Gardens last Saturday when narrowly run down by the odds-on favourite Peeping over 1200m in a Benchmark 90.

Also coming off nice lead-up runs into the Show County Quality are the Ron Quinton-trained Boss Lane and Countryman from the stables of Gai Waterhouse.

Dubawi gelding Boss Lane has won his past two races on the trot with a victory over 1250m at Canterbury on a Heavy (8) track on July 25 and then his nice win over Startubo over 1000m at Randwick on August 8.

He has won a total of four of his 10 previous runs at the Royal and is a triple winner over Saturday’s track and distance from six attempts.

Countryman has run top two in his three runs this preparation, the Royal Academy gelding having won two back over 1300m at Rosehill before a second behind Centre Pivot in the Spring Preview (1400m) last Saturday.

Other notable hopes in the Show County Quality this spring include the Clarry Conners-trained Decision Time drawn nicely in barrier two and getting in on the 54kg minimum who was fourth to Peeping last weekend, and a returning son of Savabeel Best Case for Anthony Cummings.
