2015 Taj Rossi Series Final Betting Tips

The action of Finals Day at Flemington Racecourse kicks off on Saturday with the two-year-olds facing off in the Taj Rossi Series Final 2015, betting tips on the handicap clash detailed below.

El Greco

There are 13 youngsters engaged for this winter’s $120,000 Listed Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m), due to jump as Flemington Race 1 at 11:50am (AEST).

Betting on the event at Ladbrokes.com.au is currently led by the market mover Irada ($3.80 into $3.50) who will get the run of the race from gate three with Craig Newitt sticking on the Mick Price-trained filly.

Close second pick is the super consistent El Greco ($3.70) in gate five with Damien Oliver riding Peter Moody’s son of Artie Schiller who is yet to finish worse than second in his four career runs to date.

The other two single figure hopes in the Taj Rossi Series Final odds at an equal $5.50 are then the widely-drawn Royal Rumble (barrier 11) after a hat-trick of wins on the trot and Bengal Cat (barrier 13) in the outside alley on the back of a heat win over El Greco from June 27.

So do the bookies have it right or is there an upset in the Flemington opener on the cards from a longer priced two-year-old in the mix this weekend?

1st

#4 Irada ($3.50)

She was second pick when betting opened but the money has come for this promising daughter of Iffraaj to score her second win at start number three. Won on debut at Moe before her third to Bengal Cat at Flemington. Was defeated only a quarter length that day, should appreciate the mile, did it from barrier 12 of 14 last time out and gets a far better barrier in three on Saturday for the rematch where she looks the improver and big danger.

2nd

#3 Bengal Cat ($5.50)

Bengal Cat won the heat that produces the top fancies for the Final on the weekend, trainer John Sadler eyeing a 2015 Crown Oaks campaign with the Bernardini filly so the step up to 1600m will only see her improve. Fourth run this weekend, has to handle a wide alley though (13 of 13) so could find that the challenge with Craig Williams retaining the ride after the narrow win last time out.

3rd

#1 El Greco ($3.70)

El Greco went down a nose behind Bengal Cat last start and is yet to run a bad race. Runs from barrier five again with Oliver replacing Luke Nolen in the saddle of the consistent gelding after his third win at start number five. Ticks plenty of boxes, how he likes the mile will be key.
