2015 AR Creswick Series Final Betting Tips

The feature race for three-year-olds on the Flemington Finals Day card in Melbourne on Saturday is the AR Creswick Series Final 2015 and betting tips for the set weights plus penalties clash can be found right here.

The second event on the nine-race program, this year’s $120,000 Listed A.R. Creswick Series Final (1200m) features a small but intriguing field of nine hopefuls.

Two of those share current $3.80 favouritism in the AR Creswick Series Finals odds at Ladbrokes.com.au with Patrick Payne’s last start Heat 3 winner Husson Eagle and the horse he beat home that day Rough Justice, who backed up to win Heat 5 a fortnight ago, tipped as the ones to beat.

They’re followed in the markets by four other single figure hopes including promising Charge Forward filly Face Forward ($4.80) from the local stables of Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra.

So will the first three in AR Creswick Series Final betting run the trifecta or is there value to be found further down the odds from the likes of market mover Valderrama who has been backed in from $12 to $9?

1st

#5 Face Forward ($4.80)

Dwayne Dunn rides this promising filly who has won four of her nine career starts to date. Her past four runs have all been at Flemington where she now boasts two wins and a second, including a win over the 1200m here also. She’s proven over the distance (5-2-1-0) unlike a number of her rivals but needs to improve on her latest run. On June 27 she finished one and three-quarter lengths off Rough Justice, a big danger this weekend, in Heat 5. She was dropping back from 1200m to 1100m and carried 60kg that day however and so back up in distance and getting in on 56.5kg for the rematch should be able to turn the tables.

2nd

#3 Rough Justice ($3.80)

Rough Justice has one of the best lead-ups into the final having run second to Husson Eagle in Heat 3 before his Heat 5 win over Face Forward two weeks ago. Will get the run of the race from barrier three on Saturday with Damien Oliver riding the Wanted gelding in the place of apprentice Katelyn Mallon who has been aboard for the horse’s three excellent prep runs. Has had two goes over 1200m but shoots for his first win, however Flemington (4-1-2-0) looks to suit so will be hard to hold off down the straight.

3rd

#6 Illustrious Lad ($7)

Lots of livewire hopes in this small field but on the rails with Craig Williams in the saddle, Darryl Blackshaw’s I Am Invincible gelding catches the eye. He has run fourth in his past three runs, including two last month at Felmignton behind the equal favourites in the final Husson Eagle and Rough Justice. Was only 1.35 lengths off the latter last start and can improve with an extra 100m, top barrier and Williams staying on.
