Let’s Make Adeal Targets 2015 Spring Cups

Nigel Blackiston has his eyes set on a big Caulfield CupMelbourne Cup 2015 campaign this spring with his classy mare Let’s Make Adeal who was balloted out of the staying classics last year.

Last seen running fourth to Jetset Lad in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m) at Doomben on June 6, the now five-year-old daughter of Red Ransom was Spring Cups bound last year but failed to make the cut.

She ran third to Big Money in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield in October and fifth to Signoff in the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington before a disappointing seventh to see out her campaign in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) on November 8 during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

It had been a lengthy drought for the mare when she won her first race since August of 2013 two starts back in the Listed Centaurea Stakes (2000m) in Adelaide ahead of the Brisbane Cup fourth, form Blackiston is hoping she can build on in the spring.

Currently enjoying a spell in the Sunshine State, Let’s Make Adeal will return to Victoria ahead of the spring where she will begin preparations to target the $3 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 17 and the ‘race that stops a nation’ – the $6.2 million Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) over the two miles at Flemington on the first Tuesday of November.

Let’s Make Adeal is a granddaughter of Blackiston’s 1991 Caulfield – Melbourne Cups double winner Let’s Elope, and her owner Dennis Marks is keen to give her the chance to emulate that tough feat.

“She just missed out on getting a run in the Cups last year and it’s Dennis’s ambition to have her run this year,” Blackiston told AAP.

“She’s having a couple of weeks off in the sun in Queensland before she comes back down for the spring.”

Currently Let’s Make Adeal is listed as an $81 roughie in the futures Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au and is slightly shorter at $51 in early Melbourne Cup betting markets.
