2015 Tattersall’s Tiara Late Mail

The final field of 16 has been confirmed for this afternoon’s Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on the Gold Coast has been confirmed, with only one change made to the group originally outlined on Wednesday morning.

Thump returned to racing for several competitive results through autumn, but figures as the sole scratching from the 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara field and has been replaced by talented kiwi import Tarloshan.

Najoom remained clear favourite in 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara betting fields at Ladbrokes.com.au all week but has failed to gain a start in the race and joins Jazz Song and Vergara in the list of eliminated emergencies.

Following the notable changes in field and confirmation of 16, Srikandi has now received the greatest market share of 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara bets and has moved into outright $4 favouritism.

A standout three-year-old through the 2014 Brisbane Winter Carnival, Srikandi charged home to win the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, and while failing to make anything of an impact in her next two starts, will carry winning form into this afternoon’s feature after taking out the major Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) a fortnight ago.

Srikandi has been charged with overcoming the outsider barrier in the Tatt’s Tiara but is sure to be delivered a gem of a ride from last start hoop Kerrin McEvoy.

Catkins remains steady in 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara betting markets and is currently rated a $4.50 second favourite having drawn the ideal barrier 3.

Returning to racing in slick form this time, the Dubawi mare won each of the Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m) and Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) first-up; running second in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m).

Having returned for a brief spell after finishing second in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m), Catkins will have taken valuable condition from a first-up second in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) on June 6th and will be tough to beat in the Tattersall’s Tiara.

Avoid Lightning and Lumosty interestingly figure as the only other runners currently available at a quote of less than $10 in 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara betting markets and share the third line at generous $7 odds.

A wet track specialist, Avoid Lightning has found exceptional form leading into the Tattersall’s Tiara and will be given every opportunity for success from the rails draw.

Lumosty left as clear favourite in the Stradbroke Handicap but was never really in the race and finished a disappointing tenth.

Charged with carrying a race-low 55.5kgs, the Fastnet Rock filly has reportedly trained on well and will be partnered by Mark Zahra this afternoon.

Kiwi raider Diademe ($61) is a Group 1 winner and should relish the Gold Coast conditions, while Real Surreal ($26) and Politeness ($21) are both more than worth consideration at long odds.
