Twelve Confirmed in Tattersall’s Cup Final Field

A less-than capacity field of 12 stayers have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2400m) on the Gold Coast; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Brisbane Winter Carnival’s standout long distance specialists.

Epingle has returned to impressive form this time and is sure to receive a great run in transit in the 2015 Tattersall’s Cup from barrier 2.

Posting six wins and a further 15 minors through 36 career starts so far, the Pins mare beat only one runner home in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) first-up this time but responded in the best way possible when taking out the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2200m) on the Gold Coast on April 25th.

While unable to match the late pace in the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) on May 9th, Epingle has since finished third in each of the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) and Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m).

Banca Mo returned to competitive form when a close second in the Listed Ipswich Cup (2150m) last weekend and will leave from the central barrier 6 in the 2015 Tattersall’s Cup.

Posting several impressive results for Scott Brunton through summer and autumn, Banca Mo finished in the minors in both the Group 3 Hobart Cup (2400m) and Group 3 Launceston Cup (2400m); returning to the winner’s circle in the Listed Mornington Cup (2400m) on March 28th.

Having transferred to the care of Bevan Laming following a luckless run in the Doomben Cup, the Tough Speed gelding will be partnered by last start hoop Michael Cahill in the Tattersall’s Cup.

Classy stayers Faust and Shoreham have also been confirmed in the 2015 Tattersall’s Cup final field but will need luck from wide draws.

Posting seven wins and 12 minors through 30 starts, Faust has steadily built to the task this time; running seventh in the Listed Albury Gold Cup (2000m) and second in the Listed Wagga Wagga Cup (2000m) before taking out the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2020m) last time out on May 23rd.

Reportedly in campaign-best form leading into the 2015 Tattersall’s Cup, Faust will be partnered by Hong Kong-based hoop Zac Purton.

Shoreham will contest his first start for Gerald Ryan in the Tattersall’s Tiara after being purchased and transferred from Saab Hasan’s Flemington stables.

Unable to make much of a competitive impact in his two most recent starts, the Reset gelding will have taken benefit from a brief freshen-up and will be given a gem of a ride from Brenton Avdulla.
