Interstate Raiders Confirmed in 2015 WJ Healy Stakes Final Field

15 sprinters have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) on the Gold Coast; shaping as one of the day’s most highly-anticipated events with a talented mix of locals and interstate raiders.

Dothraki failed to figure in his racing return and faces an uphill battle to figure in the dying stages of the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes from barrier 11.

Posting four wins and a further ten minors through ten career starts, the Mossman gelding arguably found career-best form to date over a five start spring and summer campaign; highlighted by close second place finishes to Our Boy Malachi in both the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) and Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m).

Whittington carries winning form into the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes but will also need luck in running if to figure from barrier 15.

Posting four wins and two minors through 17 career starts so far, Whittington was unable to match the late pace when 13th in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) on February 28th but has since finished fourth in the Listed Bribie Handicap (1000m) and won the Listed Lightning Handicap (1050m).

Ric McMahon has certainly got the best from the Tale Of The Cat entire in his two most recent starts and has been confirmed to retain the ride for the WJ Healy.

Excellantes and Rocket To Glory have both posted impressive results this time and are leading chances for success for the local contingency in the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes.

A strong and consistent performer for Robert Heathcote over a 53 start career, Excellantes finished fourth in the Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m) on May 23rd before returning to the winner’s circle in the Listed Hinkler Handicap (1200m) on June 6th.

Winning each of the Carbine Club Gold Coast Stakes (1200m) and Listed Chief De Beers (1110m) most notably this time, Rocket To Glory faded late for fifth in the Ascot Handicap most recently but will have taken benefit from a month between runs.

Sydney-based sprinter Kaepernick was disappointing at his most recent start but is sure to relish the conditions of the 2015 WJ Healy Stakes, particularly in being charged with carrying just 54kgs.

Securing three wins and as many minors through eight career starts, the Fastnet Rock gelding won a Rosehill Gardens minor over 1200m first-up on May 9th; progressing to second behind Savoureux in the BM79 (1200m) before again finishing second in the Hinkler Handicap last time out.
