Daybreak Lover Stakes Final Field Confirmed

A talented and capacity field of 14 plus two emergencies has been confirmed for Saturday’s Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1800m) on the Gold Coast; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Brisbane Winter Carnival’s standout three-year-olds.

Bachman returned to competitive form when finishing a close second in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) a fortnight ago and is positioned well to go one better in the 2015 Daybreak Lover Stakes from barrier 8.

Bachman produced several commendable results for Gerald Ryan as a two-year-old in 2014 but was unable to produce much a consistent run of form through early races this time in.

Having run third in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) on May 9th, the All American colt failed to get the distance when 13th in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2020m) a fortnight prior to the Queensland Guineas.

Gold Coast local Rhodin Drive is a proven performer over course and distance, is sure to receive a great run in transit from barrier 7 and will be partnered by Jim Byrne in the 2015 Daybreak Lover Stakes.

Securing three wins and as many minors from twelve career starts, the Reset gelding won the Tradies Day 27th June Plate (1400m) with ease first-up on April 29th; progressing to sixth in the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) on May 16th.

While also unable to handle the late going in the Grand Prix Stakes, Rhodin Drive ran on for third in an Ipswich minor over 1350m last weekend and appears primed for a return to the winner’s circle.

Yulong Baby has shown plenty of promise for trainer Mick Price this time in and should be perfectly suited to the conditions of the 2015 Daybreak Lover Stakes.

Finishing second in the Neville Wilson Final BM70 (1700m) on May 7th, the Commands filly arguably produced her most impressive effort to date when fourth in the Group 2 The Roses (2020m) on May 23rd before running a credible eighth in the featured Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) most recently on May 30th.

Sunshine Coast horseman Stuart Kendrick has already experienced notable success through the Winter Carnival and is offered a great chance of continuing the trend with Spur Le Jouer in the 2015 Daybreak Lover Stakes.

Having run fifth in the Australian Post Tensioning Handicap (1300m) on May 23rd, the Jet Spur colt will carry winning form into Saturday after taking out the Boss Building Maintenance Plate (1400m) by close to four lengths on June 6th.
