Ryan Pleased with Shoreham Ahead of Tattersall’s Cup

Talented stayer Shoreham has reportedly taken well to his time in Sydney since being purchased and transferred to the care of Gerald Ryan last month and has been confirmed to contest his first race for the Rosehill Gardens horseman in Saturday’s Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2200m) on the Gold Coast.

The stable star for the Flemington-based Saab Hasan over recent seasons, Shoreham undoubtedly found career-best form to date over the 2013 Autumn Carnival; winning the Listed Galilee Series Final (2500m) before finishing a commendable third in the Group 1 SA Derby (2500m).

Thrilled with the condition in which the son of Reset arrived in his care, Ryan is confident the conditions of the 2015 Tattersall’s Cup will suit Shoreham’s strengths on Saturday.

“He’s been in the stable a couple of weeks and he came to us in great order,” Ryan told AAP.

“He is a lovely little fellow. He’s very casual and relaxed which is a good attitude for a stayer.

“He has handled the right-handed way of running really well at Rosehill and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do at the Gold Coast.”

Returning to racing in typically competitive condition during the 2014 Autumn Carnival, Shoreham ran a credible fifth in the Group 3 Easter Cup (200m) and returned to the paddock following a close third in the Listed Warrnambool Cup (2350m) and luckless fourth when checked twice in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m).

Steadily building to the task upon resuming in spring, the five-year-old ran seventh in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m); progressing to sixth in the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) and unlucky to be balloted out of contention in the Melbourne Cup, but responding well in ending his campaign third in the Listed Sandown Cup (3200m).

Contesting his final campaign for Hasan over the recent Autumn Carnival, Shoreham placed third in the Easter Cup and fifth in the Warrnambool Cup most notably; finishing eighth in the Andrew Ramsden Stakes last time out on May 23rd.

Nominations for the 2015 Tattersall’s Cup are due by midday today, while a final field and barrier draw will be completed and released on Wednesday.
