Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) is set to draw a talented and capacity field on Day 1 of the 2015 Royal Ascot Carnival in Great Britain; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Irish star Sole Power has returned to racing in typically slick form this time in and has maintained status as outright favourite in 2015 King’s Stand Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au at a quote of $4.50 for success.
Posting eleven wins and a further 13 minors through 48 career starts so far, Sole Power stamped his claims as one to watch from his first competitive campaign through 2009 but first found peak condition in 2010; highlighted by success in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes (1006m).
Continuing to post impressive results through 2011 and 2012, the Kyllachy gelding won the 2013 edition of the King’s Stand Stakes; beating home a talented field which included Australian Group 1 winner Shamexpress.
Winning the King’s Stand Stakes and again taking out the Nunthorpe Stakes most notably ion 2014, Sole Power won the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) in Meydan on March 28th; boxing on for a credible sixth in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes (1207m) last time out on May 23rd.
The William Haggas-trained Muthmir carries winning form into the 2015 King’s Stand Stakes and currently occupies the second line of betting at a quote of $5.50.
Finishing outside the first three only a handful of times in ten career starts, Muthmir won the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap (1134m) at the conclusion of a strong 2014 campaign and has made a successful transition to black type racing this time; placing fifth in the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes (1207m) and winning the Group 2 Prix Du Gros-Chene (1000m) in recent weeks.
Australian hopeful Shamal Wind has undoubtedly stepped-up to serious Group 1 form this year and currently figures as sole occupant of the third line of 2015 King’s Stand Stakes betting at a quote of $7 for success.
A strong and consistent performer for Robert Smerdon in posting eight wins and as many minors through 24 career starts, Shamal Wind finished third in each of the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m), Group 3 Sportingbet Series Final (1200m), Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1100m) and Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) in spring.
Returning this time for success in the Listed WJ Adams Stakes (1000m), the daughter of Dubawi displayed a keen turn of foot and posted a maiden Group 1 triumph in the Oakleigh Plate (1100m) on February 28th.
Having trialled well in the lead-up to her Britain trip, Shamal Wind appears positioned well to get Australia’s 2015 Royal Ascot Carnival assault off to a winning start.
