Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The last on the nine-race program for Brisbane’s Stradbroke Handicap Day on Saturday is the Brisbane Cup 2015, betting tips for the staying showdown found below.
There are 13 hopefuls engaged to face off in Doomben Race 9 at 4:17pm (AEST) this weekend in the $300,000 Group 2 Evergreen Turf Brisbane Cup (2200m).
Leading the latest Brisbane Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, home of the $500 bonus bet offer for first time depositing players, is Let’s Make Adeal at a firming price of $3.90 (in from $7).
Drawn in barrier five with Craig Williams riding, the in-form Nigel Blackiston-trained Flemington raider is third-up for the season after two good Adelaide runs.
First-up the Red Ransom mare was second in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) on May 2 and then she won the Listed Centaurea Stakes (2000m) three weeks back with Williams aboard and she drops from her 55.5kg winning weight in that to 53kg on Saturday.
The next best in Brisbane Cup betting are then the Chris Waller-trained duo of Caloundra Cup winner Index Linked ($5) and Moriarty ($5.50) who ran second in the Eagle Farm Cup last Saturday, as well as Sense Of Occasion ($5.50) in gate six for jockey Tim Clark.
So do the bookies have it right or is there an upset Brisbane Cup result on the agenda this Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival?
#2 Index Linked ($5)
Chris Waller has a stranglehold over just about every race of late and in this he saddles-up a definite winning chance in this evergreen veteran, the seven-year-old second in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2200m) on the Gold Coast two back before winning the Listed Caloundra Cup (2400m) on May 16. Was scratched from the Eagle Farm Cup last Saturday and kept fresh for this, the son of Dansili dropping from 59kg in the Caloundra Cup to 56.5kg with the right hoop Damian Browne aboard to ride from a gun barrier two draw.
#3 Epingle ($9.50)
Good value in Michael Kent’s seven-year-old Pins mare who beat Index Linked home to win the Chairman’s Handicap over this distance on Anzac Day. She gets the rails run this weekend after a third in the Eagle Farm Cup here behind the smart young Kiwi Werther last Saturday. Was far from disgraced then and if she handles the short turnaround has claims with a clear run and strong finish.
#4 Let’s Make Adeal ($3.90)
Plenty of chances for the placings but the market mover and race favourite is too good to ignore completely. A sweet run from barrier five here with Williams retaining the ride after the mare bolted it in at Morphettville with him in the saddle last time out. Up in class for this but ticking plenty of boxes and shouldn’t be far away if bringing the same form from Adelaide to the Sunshine State.
